Siliguri, 12th May: Bhakti Nagar police recovered a motorcycle that was stolen from the Army campus on Sevoke Road in Siliguri and arrested one person in connection with the case. The arrested accused has been identified as Rakesh Mistri (30), a resident of the Kholachand Fapri area.
According to police sources, the motorcycle was stolen from the Army campus in February this year, following which an investigation was launched. During the probe, the name of Rakesh Mistri surfaced in connection with the theft.
Police later came to know that the accused was already lodged in jail in connection with another case. Subsequently, police brought him on a five-day remand following an order from the Jalpaiguri court. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to his involvement in the motorcycle theft case.
Based on his statement, police recovered the stolen motorcycle from the Fapri forest area. The accused was again produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday.
