Siliguri, 25th April: Siliguri Municipal Corporation Mayor and Trinamool Congress candidate Gautam Deb has been continuing his “Talk to Gautam” programme from his residence. However, he has expressed difficulties in running the initiative from home and has urged BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh to withdraw his objection regarding the programme.
Earlier, Gautam Deb used to conduct the “Talk to Mayor” programme from the Siliguri Municipal Corporation office. However, following the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, the programme had to be stopped based on a complaint filed by Shankar Ghosh and subsequent instructions from the District Election Officer. After this, he resumed public interaction through the “Talk to Gautam” programme from his residence.
The fifth phase of the programme was held on Saturday, during which he received multiple phone calls and listened to public grievances. However, he stated that operating the programme from his residence is causing technical difficulties.
Gautam Deb appealed to Shankar Ghosh to withdraw his complaint, stating that with Election Commission approval, the programme could be resumed from the municipal office, which would be more convenient for citizens.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Shankar Ghosh reportedly stated that if Gautam Deb submits the matter in writing, he will forward it to the Election Commission, which will take the final decision.
