Siliguri, 23rd April: Tension flared in Ward No. 06 of Dangipara area in Siliguri following an old dispute, leading to chaos during the voting process. Central force personnel reportedly resorted to a lathi charge to bring the situation under control.
On receiving information, DCP Rana Mukherjee reached the spot and inspected the area. He reviewed the polling process and stated that the situation was completely calm, with no major issues reported.
Meanwhile, Ward Councillor Alam Khan alleged that central forces carried out a lathi charge on local residents without any provocation.
The administration has initiated an investigation into the incident, and security deployment in the area has been increased to maintain peace and order.
