Siliguri, 25th April: In a swift action, Medical Outpost police achieved success within hours of a snatching incident reported in Siliguri. The police arrested an accused and recovered stolen items including a bag, mobile phone, and cash.
According to reports, Shipra Bhattacharya, a resident of Sushrut Nagar lodged a complaint on Friday night stating that she was returning home after shopping from Surya Sen Market when a youth snatched her bag and fled after jumping over the wall of North Bengal Medical College.
Following the complaint, police immediately launched an investigation and detained a 24-year-old youth from the Kawakhali area later that night. During interrogation, the stolen mobile phone and cash were recovered from his possession.
On Saturday, the accused was formally arrested and produced before the court. The prompt action by police has brought relief and satisfaction among local residents.
