Fulbari, 16th July: A lifeless body was recovered from the Teesta Canal near Nawapara of Fulbari II Gram Panchayat, situated on the Fulbari-Ambari state highway. Firefighters successfully retrieved the body from the canal.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when the lifeless body was spotted floating in the Teesta Canal, drifting from the direction of Gajoldoba. Due to the body’s position in the middle of the canal, rescuing it posed a challenge, prompting the involvement of the fire brigade.
A team from the Fulbari fire brigade responded promptly and recovered the body. Police personnel from Ambari Outpost and New Jalpaiguri police station also arrived at the scene after receiving the report. The body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown, and police are actively investigating the incident.
