Fulbari, 18th June: Nine passengers were injured after a collision between an NBSTC passenger bus and a truck at the Battala traffic point in Fulbari along the SiliguriāJalpaiguri National Highway on Thursday.
According to reports, the bus was travelling from Alipurduar towards Siliguri when it collided with a truck near the traffic point. Around 40 to 45 passengers were onboard at the time of the incident.
The injured include two children, two women and five men. All injured passengers were rescued and taken to a private hospital in Fulbari, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Personnel from the Fulbari Highway Traffic Outpost reached the spot after receiving information and carried out rescue operations. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
An injured passenger, Ritu Sarkar, said she was travelling with her daughter to see a doctor in Siliguri when the accident occurred. She sustained injuries to her hand, while her daughter suffered injuries to her waist.
Another passenger, Subhashish Shil, said he was travelling with his wife and daughter when the collision took place, leaving him injured in the leg. He added that several other passengers also sustained injuries in the incident.
