Fulbari, 17th June: Students of Mahananda Barrage Primary School in Fulbari are facing difficulties attending classes after knee-deep water accumulated across the school premises following overnight rainfall.
The school, located in the Paschim Dhantala area, was left waterlogged after heavy rain, causing inconvenience to both students and teachers. Locals alleged that the situation recurs during every monsoon due to the lack of a proper drainage system.
On Wednesday morning, the school ground and approach road were found submerged. Students had to wade through water to enter the school, raising concerns among parents and residents.
Students said even a small spell of rain leads to water accumulation in the school compound, often soaking their uniforms. They also complained of worms, leeches and other insects entering the premises due to stagnant water.
Head teacher Abdul Halim said the school has been facing the problem for several years and that the latest rainfall left knee-deep water in the campus, making access to the school difficult for students.
