Siliguri, 23rd April: Central security forces have taken charge outside polling stations to ensure peaceful conduct of the first phase of West Bengal Assembly elections, with voting continuing under strict security arrangements.
Since the start of polling on Thursday morning, officers of the central forces have been continuously inspecting various polling stations to maintain law and order.
At the polling station set up at Sri Guru Vidya Mandir School under Ward No. 46, personnel of the central forces were seen closing nearby shop shutters to ensure smooth movement and security in the area.
Crowds gathered outside the polling centre were also managed and dispersed to avoid congestion near the voting premises. Authorities have been taking special care to ensure that voters do not face any inconvenience while exercising their franchise.
Security personnel have also been appealing to the public to maintain calm and participate in the voting process peacefully.
