Bagdogra, 12th May: Buddha Jayanti was celebrated with great devotion in Bagdogra on Monday, in line with traditional customs observed across the state.
The celebrations were led by the Buddha Kalyan Samiti Bagdogra, which organised a grand religious procession from the Daragaon Buddha Temple in the morning. The procession passed through several parts of Bagdogra and saw participation from a large number of Buddhist devotees.
Women carrying the sacred Buddhist scripture, Tripitaka, on their heads were a notable part of the procession. Various religious rituals were also performed on the occasion, promoting the message of peace and harmony in society.
