Siliguri, 17th May: In a commendable initiative, ‘Banabasi Kalyan Ashram-North Bengal’ organized a mass marriage ceremony for economically disadvantaged members of tribal communities in Siliguri.
The ceremony was held at the premises of Birsa Shisu Shiksha Kendra in Salbari of Siliguri, where around 108 couples tied the knot. The marriages were solemnized following traditional customs and rituals.
According to the organization, the initiative was undertaken to extend support to underprivileged members of tribal society. Continuing its annual tradition, the organization arranged the marriages of 108 couples this year as well.
The newlywed couples were also presented with gifts by the organizers during the ceremony.
