Siliguri, 19th April: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Siliguri, prompting swift action from Bhakti Nagar police, who arrested the accused identified as Gautam Natta.
As per reports, the minor had arrived from Assam with her mother to visit a relative’s house in Siliguri. On Friday, the accused allegedly took the girl to an empty house in Durga Nagar under the pretext of visiting the ISKCON temple, and allegedly raped her.

Following the incident, the girl’s mother filed a complaint at Bhakti Nagar police station. Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested the accused on Friday night.
Accused Gautam Natta claimed he was being falsely implicated and said he had intended to marry the girl once she became an adult.
The arrested accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Saturday. Police are continuing their investigation.
