Jalpaiguri, 03rd April: The Jalpaiguri Court has convicted a person for sexually assaulting a minor girl in Siliguri and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
Reportedly, on December 01, 2021, the man called a six-year-old girl to his house and sexually assaulted her. Later, the girl’s family members came to know about the matter and filed a written complaint with the Bhakti Nagar police station on December 02.

Based on the complaint, the police investigated and arrested the person. After four long years, on Thursday, based on the testimony of 9 witnesses and various other reports, Jalpaiguri POCSO Court Judge Rintu Sur convicted the accused and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The judge also announced a fine of Rs 50,000 and another 2 months of imprisonment in default and a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the girl’s family.
