Sacked teachers and education workers protest in Siliguri DI office

Siliguri, 09th April: On Wednesday, displaced teachers and education workers launched the Siliguri DI Office Abhiyan along with similar protests in various other places.

It is to be noted that protests have started across the state following the cancellation of the 2016 SSC Recruitment panel.

The protesters gathered at Baghajatin Park from the morning. They then marched to Hashmi Chowk, where they formed a human chain and blocked the road. Later, they went to the DI office, locked it, and held a demonstration. Meanwhile, a large force of Siliguri Metropolitan Police had already been deployed to manage the situation.

The protesters claimed that despite being eligible, they were deprived of jobs. On this day, they demanded the re-employment of all eligible candidates. The agitating teachers and education workers warned that the movement will intensify if their jobs are not reinstated.
