Protest at Naxalbari police station demanding justice in minor gang rape case

Naxalbari, 25th April: Members of the Darjeeling District Chia Kaman Mazdoor Union held a protest at the Naxalbari police station on Friday, demanding strict punishment for those involved in the gang rape of a minor girl and protection for the victim’s family.

The incident reportedly took place on the night of April 20 in the Kiran Chandra Tea Garden area of Naxalbari, where a minor girl was allegedly gang raped. Following an investigation, police arrested three youths in connection with the case.

However, fresh concerns have emerged after it was alleged that the family members of the accused have been threatening a local resident who rescued the victim, as well as the victim’s family, since the day after the incident.

The protestors urged the authorities to ensure the safety of the victim’s family and demanded the immediate and harshest punishment for the accused.
