Siliguri, 25th April: Bhakti Nagar police seized a tractor illegally transporting sand and arrested the driver, Mohammad Mubarak, a resident of Dimdima Basti area.
The operation took place on Thursday night after police received a tip-off. The tractor was reportedly smuggling sand extracted illegally from the Mahananda River ghat in the Bedgara area of Salugara.

Acting swiftly, undercover officers from Bhakti Nagar police station intercepted the vehicle. When asked to present valid documents for the sand, the driver failed to produce any. Subsequently, the tractor was seized, and the driver was taken into custody.
The accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday. Further investigation is underway.
