Siliguri, 26th April: In a major breakthrough, Bhakti Nagar Police Station busted a bicycle theft gang and arrested two accused along with 11 stolen bicycles. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Irfan and Shahrukh Hussain.
According to reports, the police had been receiving frequent complaints about bicycle thefts from various parts of the city. Acting on a tip-off, the police launched an operation and successfully apprehended the duo on Friday night from the banks of the Mahananda River in the Netaji Nagar area.
A total of 11 stolen bicycles were recovered from the possession of the accused. Both have been produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a search operation to trace the remaining members of the bicycle theft gang.
