Kalchini, 06th December: Tension ensued in the area of Kalchini after a pregnant woman lost her unborn child. Reportedly, Khuresha Khatoon, pregnant wife of Hasan Ansari, a resident of the Gangutia area under Kalchini block, was admitted to Latabari Rural Hospital, where seeing her condition deteriorating, she was referred to Alipurduar District Hospital.
The ambulance driver demanded Rs 300 from the family members of the woman. It is alleged that the driver got Khuresha off the ambulance when she did not agree to pay the money. After an argument, she was taken to Alipurduar Hospital in another ambulance. However, by then it was too late and she lost her unborn child to death.
