Siliguri, 02nd May: Continuing its drive against illegal constructions, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation on Friday demolished an unauthorized building structure in the Seth Srilal Market area.
According to reports, the Municipal Corporation had received a complaint about the illegal construction a few days ago. Following an investigation, a notice was issued to the building owner. However, the owner failed to take any action to remove the unauthorized portion.

As a result, Municipal Corporation officials, accompanied by police personnel, arrived at the site on Friday and carried out the demolition. The Seth Srilal Market Byabasayee Samiti welcomed the move. Its secretary, Khokon Bhattacharya, urged that all illegal constructions within the market area should be removed.
Meanwhile, the building owner claimed that the structure was old and that only repair work was being carried out.
