Naxalbari, 29th April: Two individuals, including a civic volunteer, were arrested with drugs by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Naxalbari. The accused have been identified as Shyam Lal Singh, a resident of Mallabari and a civic volunteer at Naxalbari police station, and Sahdev Burman, a resident of Kamala Jote, Naxalbari.
According to reports, on Monday night, the two were travelling on a bike from Naxalbari to Panitanki with drugs. Acting on a tip-off, SSB jawans intercepted the bike at Bengaijote in Naxalbari.
During the search, officials recovered 234 grams of morphine from their possession. The duo was then handed over to Naxalbari police by the SSB. Later that day, the accused were presented in Siliguri court.
