Cooch Behar, 07th April: Sensation prevailed after a trader was shot dead in Cooch Behar’s Ward No. 04, on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Prantesh Saha.
According to the local sources, two youths entered the area on a motorcycle with no registration number, shot Prantesh Saha and fled from the scene. The trader was rushed to MJN Medical College and Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. The involvement of any political connection is not known yet.

Reportedly, the locals staged a protest by burning tyres on road following the incident. It is alleged that when police arrived at the crime scene, people pelted stones at them. The police resorted to firing tear gas shells to control the situation. Many people have been detained during the incident and an investigation has been initiated.
