Siliguri, 20th March: Tea workers staged a protest rally in Siliguri on Thursday against the decision to allocate 30 percent of tea garden land for tourism and to demand pending wages and bonuses.
The movement was organized by various tea workers’ organizations from Terai and Dooars. Protesters gathered at Jalpai More and took out a massive rally from there.
To prevent the rally from reaching Uttar Kanya, strict security measures were implemented by the police. The protest was ultimately stopped at Tinbatti More.
