Bagdogra, 13th May: A suspected Bangladeshi youth was arrested from the Bengdubi Army cantonment area in Bagdogra.
According to sources, the youth was detained by the Army’s QRT team while allegedly trying to enter a railway wagon inside the cantonment area. During questioning, inconsistencies were reportedly found in his statements, following which he was handed over to Bagdogra police. Police later arrested him.
The accused identified himself as Kaushik Biswas. Army intelligence officials are reportedly investigating how the youth managed to enter the restricted cantonment area despite strict security measures.
Notably, Bangladeshi nationals had been arrested earlier as well from the Bengdubi Army cantonment area. The accused is scheduled to be produced before court on Wednesday, while police have started an investigation into the entire incident.
