Siliguri, 05th May: A portion of the road in Jaleswari, near the Siliguri Eastern Bypass, suddenly collapsed on Sunday night, forming a deep crater and causing panic among residents. The incident has severely disrupted local commuting.
Locals noticed the damage on Monday morning and expressed frustration, stating that the road was constructed only a year ago. They also alleged that poor drainage maintenance and lack of proper oversight may have led to the collapse.

Despite the matter being reported, residents claimed no panchayat representatives had visited the site. They further complained about the longstanding neglect of drains in the area.
Dabgram II Anchal Panchayat Pradhan Mitali Malakar said the cause of the collapse is under investigation. She assured that if corruption is found, strict action will be taken, and drainage issues are already being addressed.
