Siliguri, 22nd April: With the first phase of Assembly elections scheduled tomorrow, polling personnel began arriving at DCRC centres from Wednesday morning.
For the Siliguri, Matigara-Naxalbari and Phansidewa Assembly constituencies, the DCRC centre has been set up at Siliguri College, from where EVMs, VVPATs and other essential polling materials are being distributed.
Polling personnel started reaching the centre since morning, with the distribution process of EVMs, VVPATs and other equipment underway in phases. Officials were seen collecting materials and proceeding to their respective polling stations.
Election Commission officials are present to monitor the entire process, while central forces and police have been deployed for security.
According to administrative sources, all polling personnel are expected to reach their assigned polling stations by tonight. Voting will begin at 7 AM on Thursday.
