Siliguri, 13th June: State Tourism Minister and Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh recalled instances from his political career when he was allegedly not invited to various programmes organised by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation and, at times, was denied due recognition despite being present.
On Saturday, a felicitation programme organised by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation to honour meritorious Madhyamik and Higher Secondary students. The event was attended by Minister Shankar Ghosh, Mayor Gautam Deb, Ranjan Sarkar, Leader of Opposition Amit Jain and others.
During the programme, the minister congratulated the students and presented them with mementoes. He was also felicitated by the organisers.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Shankar Ghosh reflected on different phases of his political journey. He said there was a time when he was not invited to many municipal corporation events and had to endure neglect and hardship in public life.
He stated that being honoured on the municipal corporation’s stage today was a special moment for him.
Despite recalling those experiences, the minister said he believes in politics based on courtesy and mutual respect. He added that he wishes to work with everyone and move forward collectively in the days ahead.
