Mayor lays foundation stone for ‘Amrut 2.0’ water project in Gajoldoba to address drinking water issues

Reports indicate that the project will cost approximately Rs 511 crore under the ‘Amrut 2.0’ initiative. The foundation stone for the first phase, costing around Rs 204 crore, was laid today. The plan involves drawing water from Gajoldoba to Fulbari via pipelines, where it will be purified before being distributed as drinking water to Siliguri.

Mayor Gautam Deb mentioned that the first phase includes laying a 28 km pipeline, with work costing 204 crores. The tender for the second phase has already been completed, and the mayor expressed hope that the full-scale project would commence before the Puja festival.
