Jalpaiguri, 28th November: The Jalpaiguri Special POCSO Court has sentenced accused Bidur Pradhan to twenty years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor after luring her with sweets. The judge also imposed a fine of ₹50,000 and directed that the family receive financial assistance of ₹5 lakh.
The incident occurred in February this year. The minor, a student of standard VII, lived with her grandmother. On the day of the incident, she was standing outside her house when a man from the locality lured her to an abandoned house under the pretext of giving her sweets and raped her.
