Alipurduar, 29th August: A tragic road accident in Chilapata forest, part of Jaldapara National Park in Alipurduar district, resulted in the death of a truck driver. The deceased, identified as Mahant Barman, was a resident of Mathura Dakshin Chakoakheti.
Local sources report that Barman was driving a container truck from Hasimara to Chilapata when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a tree in the forest. The impact of the collision was fatal for Barman.
Police have recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. An investigation into the accident is underway.
