News Desk: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista recently highlighted the progress of the eShram portal and Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) scheme in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Uttar Dinajpur.
Although 2.79 lakh workers from Darjeeling, 51,400 from Kalimpong, and 9.7 lakh from Uttar Dinajpur have registered on the eShram portal, the uptake of the PM-SYM pension scheme remains low.
Currently, only 1,393 workers in Darjeeling, 214 in Kalimpong, and 4,406 in Uttar Dinajpur have enrolled in PM-SYM. The scheme provides a monthly pension of Rs. 3,000 to unorganized workers aged between 18 and 40 after they turn 60.
