Sonada, 15th June: Hills Trinamool Congress leader and party candidate N. B. Khawas, on Wednesday, faced the wrath of the Rongmook Ceder Tea Garden workers. The workers gheraoed him and shouted, “NB Khawas Go Back” slogans.
The workers alleged that non of the party’s representatives came to their support and accused Khawas of only coming to the tea garden for votes. “If you are on the government’s side, why don’t you take the matter to the government and ask why we are hungry?” the agitated labourers question the TMC leader.
It is to be noted, the workers of Rongmook Ceder Tea Garden, since the month of May, have been protesting in support of several demands. Several gate meetings have been held in this regard however the demands of the poor workers still remain unfulfilled.
