Earlier painted in blue and white, the flyover is now being repainted in saffron colour on the outer sections, while black and white shades are being applied inside.
The colour change comes after political developments in the region, and has been a topic of discussion in the city for some time. A few days ago, the entire structure was first repainted white after the previous blue and white coating was removed.
Sources suggest that Darjeeling MP Raju Bista had earlier indicated the change in colour. However, no official confirmation has been provided regarding the decision.
The flyover, a key infrastructure project on Burdwan Road, is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the area once operational. Construction has been ongoing for a long period and is now in its final stage.
Officials indicated that the painting work will be completed in the coming days, after which the flyover is expected to be formally inaugurated and opened to the public.
