Phansidewa, 10th April: In a tragic incident, a BSF jawan lost his life due to lightning strike during patrolling in the Bandar Gachh area of the Indo-Bangladesh border in Phansidewa.
Reportedly, BSF jawan Deepak Kumar was patrolling at Gate No. 23 attached to Bandar Gachh village on Wednesday night. Rain started with thunder and lightning at night while the BSF jawans were on duty. According to BSF sources, the jawan fell on the ground due to a lightning strike in front of the gate.

Later, on receiving the news, other BSF jawans reached the spot. The jawan was rescued and taken to Phansidewa Rural Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police of Phansidewa police station have started an investigation into the incident. The body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem. The deceased jawan is stated to be a resident of Bihar.
