Siliguri, 14th May: Siliguri Metropolitan Police has taken a major step to curb the illegal narcotics trade in the city by forming a dedicated Anti-Narcotics Task Force. The special team will focus on dismantling drug networks operating across Siliguri.
DCP Rana Mukherjee said the task force has been formed under the leadership of Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza. The team will work in coordination with the Detective Department (DD) and carry out strict action against illegal narcotics activities in the city.
The task force will coordinate with all police stations under Siliguri Metropolitan Police and work towards the goal of making the city drug-free. The team includes officers of inspector rank along with five members under the supervision of an Additional SP-rank officer.
Additionally, two officers from each police station have been assigned to maintain coordination with the task force to ensure faster and more effective operations.
Police believe that the formation of the special team will help control the narcotics trade in Siliguri and strengthen efforts to make the city drug-free.
