Alipurduar, 02nd June: After around two and a half months, 96 migrant workers returned home on Tuesday. Alipurduar District-in-Council mentor Mohan Sharma and other administrative officials were present at the Jaigaon Bhutan Gate today to welcome the workers.
As per the information, several workers were stranded in Bhutan due to the lockdown imposed across the country. The Bhutanese Immigration Department, on Tuesday, helped the 96 migrant workers return to the state in compliance with the Indian-Bhutan Friendship Treaty.
Among the migrant workers, 31 are from Alipurduar district, 5 from Jalpaiguri district, 51 from Cooch Behar district, two from Kolkata, and two from South and North 24 Parganas.
