Jalpaiguri, 23rd July: Panic spread in the Charakdangi Telipara area of Jalpaiguri Sadar Block after 16 snake hatchlings were found at a house under construction. The snakes were discovered during construction work at the residence of Harekrishna Sharma.
As per reports, while digging the ground, workers noticed something moving and were shocked to find the snakes. The house owner immediately informed the local environmental NGO, Green Jalpaiguri.

On receiving the alert, Green Jalpaiguri members Ankur Das and Anirban Chakraborty arrived at the spot and carefully rescued all 16 snake hatchlings. The snakes were later released in a safe area.
Ankur Das stated that a new house was being built in place of an old one, and the mother snake likely laid eggs in the foundation of the old structure. All the hatchlings have now been safely relocated.
